CTO-Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Alfred Zinn is the founder and CTO of Kuprion. Alfred holds over 22 US patents in materials, structures and processing technologies, with multiple international patent filings and additional patents pending. He has authored or co-authored over 30 publications, including chapters in “The Chemistry of Metal CVD” and the “Encyclopedia of Inorganic Chemistry.”
Before founding Kuprion, Dr. Zinn was a Fellow at Lockheed Martin and worked on the development of nanostructured materials (optical, thermal, nano/micro-magnetics), smart materials, high-temperature materials systems, device physics modeling, quantum/superlattice structures and devices, and high-performance energy conversion devices (solar and high-quality heat conversion)
Alfred holds a Doctor of Science degree in Chemistry from Philipps University, Marburg, Germany, and spent five years at UCLA as a postdoctoral scholar and lecturer. During that time, he conducted postdoctoral research on low-temperature chemical vapor deposition (CVD), precursor development for interconnect, diffusion, and migration barrier deposition, as well as single- and mixed-phase magnetic nanomaterials synthesis.
Dr. Randy Stoltenberg is Chief Scientist at Kuprion. Since earning his doctorate degree in chemistry from Stanford University in 2011, Dr. Stoltenberg has primarily worked on the synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials.
Prior to joining Kuprion, Dr. Stoltenberg worked at Lockheed Martin’s Advanced Technology Center in Palo Alto, CA where Kuprion’s nanocopper technology was born. During his 7 years at Lockheed his work encompassed all aspects of nanocopper technology including program management, process scaling, and application/process design and development.
Dr. Stoltenberg’s current role at Kuprion includes program management and product development for their extensive nanocopper technology portfolio that includes ActiveCopperTM, a revolutionary technology that Stoltenberg has been developing for over 11 years.
Dr. Stoltenberg is the author or co-author of more than 20 peer-reviewed articles and holds 9 US patents.
Nick Antonopoulos is the CEO of Kuprion. After receiving his Bachelors of Science in Marketing from San Jose State University, Nick’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to seek opportunities in the explosive, constantly evolving tech industry where he has continued to thrive.
His unique ability to take disruptive technologies and turn them into product opportunities has allowed him to accomplish impressive feats in the industry. Nick holds over 16 patents covering a variety of technologies and has a successful track record of bringing diverse technologies to market in a variety of fields including 60 Ghz wireless connectors, flash memory controllers, MPEG video codecs, and core logic chipsets. Working alongside the bright minds behind these innovations, Nick has continuously demonstrated his ability to take complex technologies and bring them to market successfully, and safely.
Nick’s experience includes executive positions at Keyssa Inc, OnSpec Electronics (acquired by The TPL Group), Mediamatics (where they had over a 90% market share of the industry’s MPEG software, later acquired by National Semiconductor), Headland Technologies (acquired by LSI Logic), and Faraday Electronics (acquired by Western Digital). His current position as CEO of Kuprion has him once again at the forefront of a revolutionary technology that he is excited to share with the industry.
Jim Whims has founded, managed, and funded many high growth companies in Silicon Valley. The companies Mr. Whims has been affiliated with include Worlds of Wonder, Software Toolworks and Sony Computer Entertainment. At Sony Computer Entertainment Mr. Whims was Executive Vice President and led its efforts in North America with the launch of the Playstation. Sales catapulted from 0 to just short of $1 billion in the first 12 months under his leadership. This success led to numerous awards for both Mr. Whims and the company culminating with Mr. Whims receiving the prestigious Marketing Executive of the Year award from Brandweek/Adweek.
Mr. Whims is recognized by industry experts as one of the leading consumer products executives in high-tech and has spent over a decade in venture capital.
Mr. Whims received his MBA in Finance and Marketing from the University of Arizona, and he holds a BA from Northwestern University in Economics and Communications
Dick Sanquini is one of the few technology executives to have played a key role in the birth of the semiconductor industry and the consumer electronics revolution in the 21st century. Today, he works as an industry consultant, investor and board director with a strong reputation for helping to build young companies.
Dick is a limited partner at Sequoia Capital, is the Chair Emeritus of PXLW, serves on the boards of R2Semi, Kuprion, and is Director Emeritus at Synaptics. He has served on numerous boards including Chairman of PortalPlayer, the company that developed the silicon and operating system firmware for the Apple iPod.
Prior to becoming a consultant and board director, Dick worked at National Semiconductor, initially as vice president of microprocessors, microcontrollers, and peripherals and later as the company’s chief technology officer. Dick’s career began at RCA’s Solid State Electronics Division, where he designed the company’s first commercially available integrated circuits, and eventually served as general manager and director of memories and microprocessors. Dick holds a BSEE degree from the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE University), Wisconsin.
